On average the seniors that we serve live on $550 per month--31% below the poverty line. Many suffer from life threatening conditions like heart disease, hypertension, or diabetes, and an even greater number suffer from some form of disability that limits their mobility. Unfortunately, over 90% of the seniors that we serve live alone, and many lack family or friends who are able to assist them. Emmaus provides these seniors with programs and services that help them meet the full range of their needs, from the critical--food, health care assistance, housing advocacy--to the less critical but equally important need for comfort and companionship.
